IMAGO MORTIS

The Dark Art of Sean M. Palfrey est.d 2007

This is one of those shoots where I should have done a behind the scenes, but I forgot and was really into the shooting, but thankfully Joel of Byronic Sex & Exile (as well as Goth City Festival and like half a dozen other bands) got a few snaps, as did Debz, so I’m including them here.

We shot this in Leeds city centre in about three hours on 8th February, just before the storm clouds and winds rolled in that evening. It was a surprisingly easy drive to the city and we got parked up centrally in the area  we wanted to shoot in. The idea for it being rooted in a facebook exchange between Joel and I late last year which, led to the brilliant double-take shot in the middle (everyone seems to really like that). As with my previous films this was a zero budget, shot on my own kind of affair with all the editing done by myself the following week. I’m really happy with the results as well, considering this is my first attempt at a music video. Debz did a great job keeping hold of the placard as the odd strong gust of wind hit her, and Joel took to performing multiple takes to a background track very quickly, which made it very easy to sync up to the song (and a damn catchy song at that!). I’m always up for a collaboration on shoots like this – goth, industrial, electronic with no budget. I just enjoy this stuff, so hit me up if you want to collaborate.

Anyway, check out the video below and head over to www.byronicsexandexile.co.uk and gothcityrecords.bandcamp.com ‘Your Name On The Wind’ is taken from the forthcoming album, ‘Cu Foc’, released 3rd April 2020.

Also thanks to Debz de Vil for posing about, Oh My Goth photography for the great shot of Joel we used for the placard, Joel for letting me do this video, and the Fox and Newt pub for letting us use their function room.
